Spread the word

The ideal way to learn a language is to be in one of the countries where that language spoken and not use your familiar language at all.
Children learn languages extremely fast because their motivation is not only to speak the language, but to join the community. They want to be a part of what’s happening around them and the only way to get there is through language.
This is what’s different for a lot of adults. They rely on what they know already and it’s difficult for them to abandon their familiar culture. Coupled with a boring setting in which the target language is often taught, it’s no surprise that many people are struggling.
(I personally think children learning languages faster than adults is a myth and I’m not alone on that one 😉 )
If you would rely on speaking only German it wouldn’t take you that long to learn. You won’t be negotiating  business mergers after 3 months, but you’ll definitely be able to enjoy a night out with friends after a short while.
Of course, completely giving up your familiar language is difficult and not for everyone. You might need those times speaking in your native tongue to unwind, and that’s perfectly fine.
Easing in and only speaking the target language for a few hours a day or week, while doing an activity you enjoy, can be the first step.
This is what we’re trying to build up and you can show you’re interested by signing up on the main page or by using the form in the sidebar.
You will want to express yourself and you’ll lose the fear of talking quickly. Because you’ll want to be a part of what’s happening around you, you might be able to experience the care free attitude you had as a child.
